National Taskforce Leadership

Sarah Cronk, 16
Bettendorf, Iowa
Affiliation: Sparkle Effect & the LEAGUE

Sarah is in the 11th grade. She, along with 5 other cheerleaders, created the nation's first ever cheerleading squad, The Pleasant Valley Spartan Sparklers, to include students with disabilities (http://www.spartansparkles.com). This squad has been featured in People Magazine, ABC News, and on both Miley Cyrus' and the Jonas Brothers' websites. She then created The Sparkle Effect (http://www.thesparkleeffect.org), a non-profit organization to encourage cheerleading squads around the country to create inclusive squads. Sarah serves as the Vice-Chair of the National Youth Commission for the LEAGUE and on the Youth Advisory Council for DoSomething (www.dosomething.org), both national youth volunteer organizations. She was chosen to serve on the YAC after designing a national campaign entitled "Make More Room at the Table," which advocated social inclusion for students with disabilities.
