Cara is in the 12th grade. She created Abilities4u, a website and network dedicated to helping people with disabilities and spreading disability awareness. She has been featured in Newsday's Everyday Hero column for educating and reaching out to others with disabilities, twice on Long Island Channel 12's "Students Making A Difference," "Disability News and Views Radio Show" for a live interview, and has appeared on both The CBS Early Show and NY1 TV/New York City. She is the Co-organizer of New Hyde Park Memorial High School's first "Disability Awareness Week"; president of New Hyde Park Memorial's Big Brother, Big Sister club, and is involved with "Dancing Dreams," an adaptive dance program that has been featured on several national and local news shows. Cara also presents disability awareness program to elementary schools to raise funds for The Bubba Fund. She is currently working on starting an online magazine geared towards disability culture and pride, (http://www.mosaicwebzine.bravehost.com).
