Use I am Norm as a teaching tool in your school or club:
Spread the word about I am Norm! Blog, tweet, embed and post the website and video links.
Everyone should be fully included at school and in the community, here are some ways you can help:
Every Day
- Be an inclusion leader by example. Make sure EVERYONE feels welcome in the hallway, lunchroom, in sports, at dances, at parties and other activities.
- Be patient with people who have difficulty speaking or use technology to communicate.
- Understand that some people have a hard time socializing because of their disability.
- Learn about People-First Language at the National Inclusion Project.
- Stand up against bullying. Learn more here.
With Your Friends
- Make a statement. Get as many of your friends as you can to wear NORM name tags on the same day. When people ask you why your name tag says "Norm," tell them about the movement to redefine normal and invite them to join.
- Invite five or more friends (with and without disabilities) to your own Including Samuel movie party. Before they come, ask them to watch the film trailer at www.includingsamuel.com. Post a comment on the INCLUDING SAMUEL Facebook Group at groups.to/includingsamuel.
- Talk about Norm by uploading your own YouTube video or Share Your Story.
- Blog, create a YouTube video, or write something about inclusion on other websites.
In the Community
In School
- Start an I AM NORM group focused on promoting inclusion and fighting back against discrimination and bullying. Use the activities in this list as a starting point for your efforts.
- Ask teachers and administrators how they are making your school inclusive and what you can do to help.
